SCRIPTURE
2 Some Pharisees were trying to find fault with Jesus. They watched him closely. They wanted to see if he would heal the man on the Sabbath day.
OBSERVATION AND UNDERSTANDING
Famous people are always under the watchful eye of the crowd. Paparazzi, news media, gossip columns are always looking for the next juicy story. That is probably how it was for Jesus. People were constantly reporting on his opinions and his behavior, always looking for a way to trip Him up and discredit Him.
LIFE APPLICATION
While we certainly don't have that kind of intense scrutiny from the world, the truth is that we are still live under the microscope - people are watching to see if we really believe what we say we do. They want to know if our faith and profession of love for God is real or not. And curious watchers can become eager listeners if we are truly living out our faith because a living and authentic faith will draw a crowd. Let us be witnesses of God's truth and power by living lives of worship and service to God. And when the opportunity arises from our living "always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander." 1 Peter 3:15-16
S - “ ‘…Who are my mother and my brothers?’ And looking about at those who sat around him, he said, ‘Here are my mother and my brothers! For whoever does the will of God, he is my brother and sister and mother.’ ” (Mark 3:33-34)
O – Jesus said “whoever does the will of God is my…” What does it mean to “do the will of God?”
U – If we think about it, this is not the easiest question. We can, however, find great richness in pursuing the answers.
L – In the first place, doing the will of God begins with believing in the one He sent (John 6:28-29).
